Over the course of my full and sometimes foolhardy lifetime I have come across many wonderful spirited fortifications. Of them all there are a few that stand above the rest and have been met with shear delight by the patrons of my humble abode.
I have categorised these as my Classics and they will stand the test of time.
Eton mess
It’s not a perfect recipe until it contains a spirited fortification, our alcoholic twist on a classic dessert. Fresh Strawberries, Holy Trinity RUM, Chambord Liqueur and Lime are topped with a Vanilla Foam, Popping Candy and Fruit Caviar.
£16Coco de mer
One for the Pina Colada fans out there, Rumbullion RUM, Plantation Rum, Cointreau Blood Orange, Cream of Coconut, Passion Fruit, Pineapple, Lime and Tonka.
£16The Perfect Porn Star
This perfectly balanced concoction of fresh Passion Fruit and Cariel Vanilla VODKA served alongside Prosecco and an amuse-bouche of tantalising flavours. Always makes an appearance at the most debaucherous of affairs.
£15Ink slinger
Sailor Jerry RUM, Patrón Tequila, Chartreuse, Cactus Juice, Ginger, Lime, Grapefruit, Agave and Vanilla.
“Show me a man with a tattoo and I’ll show you a man with an interesting past.”
£16Holy Grail
Plantation Pineapple RUM, Pusser’s Gunpowder, Flor de Cana, Apricot, Lime, Pineapple, Passion Fruit, Falernum, Green Chartreuse and Almond, served in an ancient chalice.
The Holy Grail has long been thought to possess miraculous powers that provide happiness, eternal youth or sustenance in infinite abundance. As you can envision this appealed to the very core of my nature, I have accumulated many ancient chalices over the years, but thus far, am yet to find the original.
I have however found a rather miraculous tipple to serve in them.
£17Smoking manhattan
A venturesome concoction of Eagle Rare 10 Year BOURBON, Martini Ambrato, Lillet Rosso, Maraschino & Cherry Bitters blended with smoke and served in a glass skull.
£16 -
Included in my signature cocktails you will find a selection of the most marvellous and captivating concoctions I have stumbled across during my endeavours. Some are not for the faint of heart and others will make you question the most simple rules of science.
To enjoy these spirited fortifications can only be described as a wondrous experience.A way out of purgatory
A homage to the mighty Silverback, Baller VODKA, Safari Liqueur, Ancho Reyes Chilli, Chartreuse, Mango, Lime, Egg White and Bitters.
£16Rubber Dub Dub
Bathtub GIN, Dolin Blanc Vermouth, Rhubarb, Rose, Raspberry, Apple and Yuzu, topped with Lavender Bubbles.
Now I understand this may be contrary to popular belief, but after a long week of ducking and diving, there is nothing this particular cat likes to do more than have a good soak in a wondrous bubble bath. I particularly like the scent of lavender for my bubbles, not that I would openly admit that to the chaps.
£17The Epiphany
An amalgamation of Martini Ambrato VERMOUTH, Benedictine, Chardonnay and Bitters, presented in a glass smoking pipe glazed with La Fee Parisienne Absinthe Mist and paired with Canapés.
The perfect ending to a pleasant evening when one retires to the drawing room to contemplate ones thoughts and plan ones future endeavours.
£15The Hibachi
Rumbullion RUM, Mozart White Chocolate, Pedro Ximenez and Vanilla Liqueur.
On the rare occasion I have the opportunity to have some R&R with friends and family, there is nothing better than sitting round an open fire and toasting marshmallows. The outdoors must appeal to the feline in me.
£17Breakfast at Chadwick's
Bombay Sapphire GIN, Lychee, Prosecco, Dolin Blanc Vermouth, Grapefruit, Lemon, Cranberry and Almond.
I think it's fair to say, that I am the kind of cat that enjoys the finer things in life. After a particularly memorable evening with one Lady Lilly Bollenger, in which she made a comment that I will forever live by, I now only drink Champagne when I'm happy and when I'm sad. Sometimes I drink it when I'm alone. When I have company I consider it obligatory. I trifle with it if I'm not hungry and drink it when I am. Otherwise, I never touch it. “So why do I drink Champagne for breakfast? Doesn't everyone?”
£17An Old Fashioned kind of Babe
Woodford Reserve RYE, Butterscotch and Bitters infused with a bacon scented fog. One of my favourite memories is that of swimming with the pigs of the Exumas Islands in the Bahamas.
Do you know that no-one knows how they came to colonise the human free Island.
£17A Royal Charlie Foxtrot
El Dorado 12 Year RUM, Pusser's Gunpowder, Yahuara Branca Cachaca, House Infused Carribean Spices, Coconut, Pineapple, Fresh Lime.
One day after consuming what seemed to be a complete barrel of rum, our Captain disclosed to me the whereabouts of a shipwreck that was said to contain the lost treasure of the San José galleon estimated to be worth more than any feline could spend in all 9 lives.
Of course curiosity got the better of this cat and it nearly cost me dear. In the world of diving a Charlie Foxtrot is a polite reference to a situation that has gone disastrously wrong, normally at the hands of incompetent associates, or better known as a complete ‘clusterfuck’ of a job, and no word could be more fitting, I was the only soul to survive.
Did I claim my prize???
You will never know, perhaps I’ll give you a clue…
£16The Candyman
Grey Goose Vanilla VODKA, Rhubarb Vodka, Lemon Sherbet, Lemon Juice and Blueberry, Hibiscus Soda.
As a youth there was nothing I liked more than a trip to the seaside arcade. One of my favourite past times was to stuff tissue up the coin tray of a fruit machine, and then sit back and wait. It was always a joy to watch the customer beam with excitement when they won the jackpot, only for nothing to come out when they tried to retrieve their winnings, upon going to find the manager to complain I would then remove the tissue and retrieve my bounty. Ahhh great memories.
£17The Butterfly Effect
One GIN sage and apple, Apple, Lemon, lemongrass & egg white.
On rather impulsive and somewhat over-adventurous expedition with my intrepid companion Pablo, we travelled the deepest depths of South America in search of the ‘Temple of the Butterfly’ which is said to contain a countless number of pure gold butterflies alongside a wealth of other priceless depictions of animals. This magical menagerie is said to have evaded even Hernan Cortes and his conquistadors in their conquests and subsequent destruction of the Aztec Empire. Here is a little taste of what we found.
£17Full Proof
Rumbullion RUM, Pusser’s Gunpowder, Discarded Vermouth, Lime, Apple, Falernum, Mezcal and Tiki Bitters.
During ones bootlegging days, I ran for a very long time a rather profitable enterprise, smuggling full proof rum from the West Indies to the shores of Penzance, until that is, one particularly unscrupulous acquaintance switched a shipment for some simple Earl Grey.
Today I will share with you good people a simple gun powder test so you will never endure the same fate.
£17Turtle Island
Renegade Gin, St Germain, Pear Puree, Lime, Pink Pepper and Ginger.
For some Indigenous peoples, Turtle Island refers to the continent of North America. The name comes from various Indigenous oral histories that tell stories of a turtle that holds the world on its back. For some Indigenous peoples, the turtle is therefore considered an icon of life, and the story of Turtle Island consequently speaks to various spiritual and cultural beliefs.
In some Ojibwe oral traditions, the story of Turtle Island begins with a flooded Earth.
The Creator had cleansed the world of feuding peoples in order to begin life anew. Some animals survived the flood, such as the loon, the muskrat and the turtle. If we continue on our path of destruction for our unique planet, let us not be surprised if Mother Nature fights back.
£17Royal Prescription
King’s Ginger LIQUEUR, St Germain, Dolin Blanc Vermouth, Lemon, Apple, Rosemary and Honey.
King Edward VII literally lived life in the fast lane. He would endlessly drive his horseless carriage (a Daimler), whatever the weather.
So much so, that in 1903 the Royal Physician became concerned about the monarch’s health. So, he called on Berry Bros. and Rudd for a solution, a high strength liqueur that would warm and revivify His Majesty.
Crafted from ginger, (for centuries celebrated for its medicinal properties) The King’s Ginger was born.
Mr Smithfield as I’m sure you know is partial to burning the candle and both ends and when he heard of this delightful prescription he thought it only suitable, after all if it is good enough for Kings...
£16Great Escape
Grey Goose VODKA, Pain d’épices, Pumpkin, Cranberry, Lemon, Rhubarb Bitters.
To commemorate a rather audacious attempt to repatriate six extremely rare and priceless cases of Vodka, which were stolen from myself in a most discourteous manner.
Unfortunately during our attempt to leave the shores of France in an appropriated hot air balloon, my good friend Spencer and I ran into a little trouble over the channel and we had to dispense of some excess weight, after much deliberating I heartbreakingly discharged of my priceless spirited fortification in favour of my old friend Spencer. Don’t let anyone tell you I don’t have a heart. C’est la vie.
